Web Locker Restaurant, 734 Coho Way, Bellingham, WA
Some places scream out "diner," others are more subtle. Very technically speaking, Web Locker is an all-day restaurant that serves breakfast, so it counts. Located on the newly developed part of Bellingham's waterfront, I expected something boujee and upscale. But it was actually quite friendly, with a bunch of regulars drinking their coffees and reading their papers on another rainy morning.
Vibe: Ahoy, matey! Set sails for Eggs Benny!
Song heard: Marcia Griffith, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart"
Coffee: Solid. Please serve yourself at the back wall, help yourself to refills.
Did the yolk pop like it should?: Yes, this was another well done EB. I'd ding it a bit for two things: the sauce was a bit on the runny side and the ham, while it tasted fine, didn't feel like it had had enough time to mesh and melt with the bread and egg. And yes I know, I use too much ketchup.
Can I sit and read a while?: Absolutely. This is a bright, open space (an old boat hangar I think?) that invites you to sit and relax a while.
Price: $21.14
This is another wonderful diner in a county full of them, but it's not just for breakfast! The lunch menu looked pretty damn good, and the coolers are full of beer and soda for those going off on boat journeys.
Sexy wooden mermaid says: "Always tip your waitress!"
I'll be back, probably to try the lunch menu already mentioned. The Web Locker is a nice little find in an area where you wouldn't expect such an excellent breakfast. Maybe, just maybe, I've become a diner snob who really likes a place that focuses on just one thing, and that's no fault of this place.
Overall:
3.5 / 5 Nighthawks
